LEAGUE CLASSIC CHAMPION GUIDE

Ezreal Classic: AD vs AP & First Recall

Marksman · Mage

Choose AD or AP, then choose a recall that fits your next trade. Q's AD ratio and range, and R's AP ratio cite Classic notes; other skill numbers await evidence.

QUICK ANSWER

Ezreal in League Classic: AD starts with Sheen for trading or Tear for a slower mana plan. AP builds toward Sheen, then Lich Bane; a smaller recall buys Tome or Sapphire Crystal. Do not buy both routes.

Overview

Ezreal rewards choosing the next safe hit instead of forcing a fixed combo. The build branch determines which spell hit carries most of the page's value.

After the first recall: trading item or mana investment?

These are suggested lane decisions, not a measured best build. Check your client's item effects, prices and recipes against the recorded snapshot.

The purchase cards use the same updated official item records as the linked recipes. Their total is the price of all listed items from scratch, not your remaining upgrade cost: keep owned components and follow the selected recipe. AD Sheen leads toward Trinity Force; AD Tear leads toward Manamune; the AP Sheen route leads toward Lich Bane. Do not add all three plans into one shopping list.

  • AD with Sheen: Look for an open Q line from a safe position. If minions block the shot, change your angle or return to farming; buying a trading item does not make a blind forward E safe.
  • AD with Tear: Accept a slower damage plan while working toward Manamune. Farm safely and manage mana; do not treat the mana purchase as a reason to force an all-in. Reassess whether later recalls need immediate fighting power.
  • AP with Tome, Crystal or Sheen: Buy for the problem you have now: AP investment or a mana buffer. Do not switch between AD and AP cores on every recall. R's sourced 100% AP ratio alone cannot tell you whether a combo kills: its base damage and full formula remain unverified here.

Keep E available when enemy control or a missing jungler makes forward movement risky. The next purchase should follow the chosen route and owned components, not the sum of every option shown on the page.

AD Mystic Shot

TESTING

An editorial AD route for repeated Q pressure: choose immediate trading power or a slower mana investment at the first recall.

First recall

If buying all listed items: 1,900g

Owned components are not deducted; alternatives below are not additional purchases.Prices: item snapshot 16.20.1, not a live shop feed. Check the client before buying.

Buy priority: Prioritize Sheen if you can afford it and safely land Q for lane trades. Choose Tear first only when mana shortage and a slower Manamune plan matter more than immediate pressure. These are two priorities, not a requirement to buy both on one recall; keep owned components.

Change course when:Below either completed item's budget, choose Sapphire Crystal for mana or Long Sword for AD, not both by default. Crystal can feed Sheen or Tear; Long Sword belongs to the AD plan, not Sheen's recipe. Reassess before committing to the AP route.

Next target — not part of this recall total

Choose by your first purchase: Sheen → Trinity Force; Tear → Manamune. These are alternative next targets, not both purchases at once. Tear does not build into Trinity Force. Keep owned components and check the selected recipe for what remains.

AP spell burst

TESTING

An editorial AP route for spell burst, with a separate Sheen-to-Lich-Bane purchase plan rather than the AD core.

First recall

If buying all listed items: 1,200g

Owned components are not deducted; alternatives below are not additional purchases.Prices: item snapshot 16.20.1, not a live shop feed. Check the client before buying.

Buy priority: Work toward Sheen for this Lich Bane route. On a smaller recall, choose Amplifying Tome for AP or Sapphire Crystal for mana; both are Sheen components in the recorded recipe. Upgrade components you already own, and do not buy an extra Tome after finishing Sheen by default.

Change course when:If staying alive or reaching a safe spell window is the problem, prioritize survival rather than another AP purchase. If you switch to sustained AD pressure, use the AD route instead of stacking its core with Lich Bane.

Next target — not part of this recall total

Keep Sheen for Lich Bane and follow its remaining recipe; this is the next target, not another item to buy on the first recall. The AP plan does not require the AD route's Tear purchase.

What to buy at each recall.

AD Mystic Shot

Prioritize Sheen if you can afford it and safely land Q for lane trades. Choose Tear first only when mana shortage and a slower Manamune plan matter more than immediate pressure. These are two priorities, not a requirement to buy both on one recall; keep owned components.

Change course when: Below either completed item's budget, choose Sapphire Crystal for mana or Long Sword for AD, not both by default. Crystal can feed Sheen or Tear; Long Sword belongs to the AD plan, not Sheen's recipe. Reassess before committing to the AP route.

Choose by your first purchase: Sheen → Trinity Force; Tear → Manamune. These are alternative next targets, not both purchases at once. Tear does not build into Trinity Force. Keep owned components and check the selected recipe for what remains.

Change course when: When you cannot trade safely, postpone the offensive completion for movement or defense. Do not buy a second damage core just to match the full-build list.

AP spell burst

First recall

Work toward Sheen for this Lich Bane route. On a smaller recall, choose Amplifying Tome for AP or Sapphire Crystal for mana; both are Sheen components in the recorded recipe. Upgrade components you already own, and do not buy an extra Tome after finishing Sheen by default.

Change course when: If staying alive or reaching a safe spell window is the problem, prioritize survival rather than another AP purchase. If you switch to sustained AD pressure, use the AD route instead of stacking its core with Lich Bane.
First core completion

Keep Sheen for Lich Bane and follow its remaining recipe; this is the next target, not another item to buy on the first recall. The AP plan does not require the AD route's Tear purchase.

Change course when: Delay Lich Bane if you cannot safely use the spell-and-hit pattern. Recheck the intended role before spending on either route's later damage items.

Build logic

Choose the route that solves the current game.

  • Every missed Mystic Shot delays both damage and cooldown cycling.
  • Keep Arcane Shift unless the aggressive blink is provably safe.
  • Pick one ratio profile before completing the first core.

FAQ

Questions players ask before loading in.

Should Classic Ezreal build AD or AP?

Our editorial AD route focuses on repeated Mystic Shot pressure; the AP route focuses on spell burst. Pick one role before committing to a core, and check the recorded skill values against your Classic client.

Should Ezreal buy Sheen and Tear on the same recall?

Not necessarily. In the AD route, Sheen prioritizes immediate trades while Tear is a slower mana investment toward Manamune. If gold is limited, choose the purchase that solves your lane; the displayed total is not a minimum recall budget.

What if I cannot afford Sheen?

The AP route uses Amplifying Tome for AP or Sapphire Crystal for mana, both recorded Sheen components. The AD route can instead take Long Sword for attack damage, but Long Sword is not a Sheen component. Keep owned components rather than buying duplicates.

Are these current shop prices and verified builds?

Prices come from the displayed item snapshot, not a live shop feed. Builds and rune choices are editorial suggestions awaiting playtesting. Official Classic 26.17 notes support Q's 110% total AD ratio and 1100 cast range, and R's 100% AP ratio; other numeric fields are withheld. Notes were checked through 26.20, not the complete client.

How should Ezreal play after buying Sheen or Tear?

With Sheen, look for clear, safe Q trades rather than chasing through a minion screen. Tear is a slower mana plan, not an immediate damage spike: keep safe farm and do not force an all-in just because you bought it. In either branch, hold E when enemy control or a gank can punish the blink.

Why buy Sheen on AD Ezreal?

Mystic Shot applies on-hit effects, allowing it to trigger Sheen from range.

What does AD Ezreal max first?

Mystic Shot is the default AD priority.

When can Ezreal use Arcane Shift aggressively?

Only when enemy control is unavailable and the targeted bolt helps finish a safe sequence.
