TRANSPARENT ROLE SHORTLIST · PATCH 26.15
League Classic Tier List
This is a documented starting-point list, not a hidden-stat leaderboard. Picks are grouped by role, reliability, execution burden, and the quality of the guide evidence currently published on this wiki.
Start with Garen or Pantheon for direct top-lane plans, Ryze or Sion for explainable mid-lane patterns, Master Yi for cleanup-focused jungle or mid play, Ezreal or Tristana for ranged damage, and Soraka for a clear support job. Specialist picks can be strong, but they punish copied builds and poor timing more severely.
METHOD
What moves a champion up this list.
The first edition only highlights champions with a published guide or a sourced popular-build page. Reliability means the champion can perform its main job without one fragile interaction. Execution measures how severely mistakes in range, timing, or resource use are punished. Evidence measures how much of the recommendation is tied to visible mechanics and current records.
The list does not claim official win rate, pick rate, or a solved metagame. Unreviewed champions stay outside the shortlist instead of receiving a guessed grade.
- Reliable picks have a repeatable lane or teamfight job.
- Specialists can be powerful but require narrower timing or matchup knowledge.
- Experimental builds remain labeled even when they are memorable or popular.
- A patch or verified mechanic change can move a pick without rewriting the whole roster.
TOP LANE
Reliable front line or a deliberate side-lane plan.
Top lane rewards champions whose first purchase and first matchup adjustment are easy to explain. Safe picks give the team a stable job; specialists trade that reliability for pressure or scaling.
Garen — reliable starting point
Clear trading windows, durable lane patterns, and multiple documented item routes.
Open reference →PressurePantheon — early pressure
Strong targeted setup and an understandable early tempo plan, with less room for wasted recalls.
Open reference →SpecialistTryndamere — side-lane specialist
Threatens extended fights and side lanes, but rage, matchup, and entry timing carry more risk.
Open reference →SpecialistGangplank — scaling specialist
Flexible income and critical-strike paths reward planning but punish weak early decisions.
Open reference →JUNGLE & MID
Tempo, control, or a cleanup window.
The central roles decide how quickly a lead reaches the rest of the map. The safest recommendations create action without depending on an opponent entering one perfect position.
Ryze — repeatable control
Targeted control and a mana-based durability engine create an explainable mid-game job.
Open reference →ReliableSion — targeted burst setup
A direct stun and shield create a simple threat, while shield timing and approach distance still matter.
Open reference →SpecialistMaster Yi — cleanup specialist
Excellent when one takedown opens another Alpha Strike, weak when forced to start a full-health fight.
Open reference →SpecialistKassadin — scaling specialist
High late pressure after resources and levels, with meaningful risk before the mobility engine comes online.
Open reference →RANGED DAMAGE
Safe access matters as much as final damage.
A ranged carry needs a way to collect waves and enter fights without donating the first death. Mobility and reach raise reliability; unusual AP or critical paths move toward specialist territory.
Ezreal — flexible range
Range and mobility create safer learning windows, while item choices still change the damage pattern.
Open reference →Reliable / specialistTristana — reset pressure
A direct ranged role is accessible; the AP jump-burst version requires stricter kill and escape timing.
Open reference →SpecialistAP Tristana
A memorable burst route that becomes dangerous when the first jump does not produce a clean exit.
Open reference →SUPPORT
A clear team job beats an unexplained item row.
Support placement focuses on reliable lane value, peel, sustain, and whether the champion can still contribute on a low income. The published support pool is intentionally small until more champion records are verified.
Soraka — sustain and protection
A clear low-income job with lane sustain and team protection, supported by a complete guide.
Open reference →Verification queueMore supports remain unranked
Champions without a complete, sourced guide stay in the verification queue instead of receiving a guessed tier.

How to read this League Classic tier list
Why does this tier list not show win rates?
The site does not have an official public Classic performance dataset that supports those numbers. The list uses visible mechanics, reliability, execution burden, and published evidence instead of fabricating precision.
Does specialist mean weak?
No. A specialist can be extremely effective when the player understands the timing, matchup, and build pivot. The label means the pick is less forgiving as a default recommendation.
Why are many champions not ranked?
Only champions with sufficiently complete and sourced coverage enter the first shortlist. Leaving a champion unranked is more useful than assigning a grade before its values and role plan are checked.
SOURCES & METHOD
Transparent criteria instead of false precision.
The shortlist uses the site's published champion and build records, official League Classic context, patch labels, and visible gameplay mechanics. It does not reproduce or infer private API performance data.
